Not enough control

It was too easy to have to restart the level with a difference of one pixel between "I made it" and "crud." The thing moves too far in a single keystroke. However, I did like the concept a lot, and for that I give it a good score.

Kwing responds:

That's what I originally thought, but when I decreased the speed by ONLY ONE pixel per frame, it was way too slow. I could have had it go at a speed that wasn't a whole number, but I just said "screw it," because the enemies couldn't afford to move slower than they already were.

Fun, exciting puzzle game

Entertaining, very challenging, and a lot of variety. You really have to use your logic skills in the later levels.

The only thing missing is a pause button. (Some of us go away for a bit to take care of the real world.) Other than that, an excellent game.

Very good game; I'm just not good AT it

Very classy game. Old-fashioned arcade style was perfect, the music fit, the moves were awesome. Front-page material all the way!

Sadly, I'm no good at games like this; lack of experience, I suppose...ah, well. I'll just have to get better and actually learn to attack properly. Great job; keep up the good work!

Broken

It was okay up until I hit the quiz guy; then the right answer for question 3 didn't work. The ladder was a little annoying too. Other than that, good start. Keep trying.

Did not enjoy it

Generally one expects to see the rock actually hit the cat in order to lose a life. Furthermore, this is the type of game where wrap-around borders are NOT a good idea.

And what is it with people and that damn song?! It's hardly the best of Linkin Park, and after a while you get tired of hearing it. Different soundtrack, if you would.

PRELOADERS: http://www.newgrounds.com/downloads/

That's all I have to say. Good try, but it needs lots of work.

flightlesschickens responds:

those are as2 i need as3

Oh, carpal tunnel!

I'm working with ActionScript 1, and can't afford to update my software, so this thing's not much use to me. But for those with AS2 programs, I can see this being helpful. (Hint to other viewers: you can copy and paste the code he gave you!) Good tutorial; 6/10.

PolutedFuse responds:

Sorry, I have to edit that..
I'm pretty sure AS2 and AS1 are prettymuch the same except for a few minor differences.. this tutorial should work with AS1 :)

Top-notch song, low-caliber game

There was no preloader, there was no entertainment value in the gameplay--there was really no point to the game itself. And the song "Clubbed to Death" deserves far better than this.

Newgrounds GIVES you preloaders ( http://www.newgrounds.com/downloads/p reloaders/ ), generally useful for something 7 megs in size. Try "Beginner Flash Game Programming for Dummies" to learn ActionScript; it's been helping me out a lot on my project.

No, nothing this time, but keep working on it.

luckyesmiperro responds:

Hey i know the preloaders page one

Okay then...

I thought it was funny that the button you made for the Button tutorial only worked if the mouse was right over the text--no hit area or anything.

If you're going to claim to be a reliable Flash teacher, make reliable Flash.

karionfabe responds:

i fix the button and made background colour. also added a preloader

Didn't enjoy it

A good concept, but in terms of entertainment value I felt it was lacking. It's the kind of game you can get really tired of rather quickly. A valiant effort, though.

Too easy

Definitely a good parallel in the programming, but simply not as challenging as Bejeweled. On the upside, you are making games which are at least entertaining to a degree. Keep at it.
